Santa Maria to Mark's apartment in Menlo Park

Karin: ik ken het, ook het auto duwen? Ja Mark word al stiller en is vanavond snel nog wezen basketballen met vrienden.
Today we left the hisoric Santa Maria Inn, and we slept in the room with Bob Hope's star on the door. Breakfast was not included and we had enought provisions to have breakfast on the road. So we tuned our GPS and we were off to a 300 km coastal route.
Yesterday we had our first Pacific view and this morning the weather was the same as yesterday, so no improvement on the view. But after a while Highway 1 became mountainous and the ride was nice and curvy. Mark easily twisted us through hairpin curves. After a while we saw the suns efforts to break the clouds witch was an improvement an the photo view.
Geert tipped us to go to a restaurant along the route. It is a route similar to the Chapman's peak route near Capetown, along the way there is no getting off. To the right the mountain is steep up en to the left steep down. We could not miss the restaurant, we had coffee and a cinnamon roll at a table with amazing view.
According to plan we made for the 17 mile drive as we turned into the very nice looking Carmel. By now the sun had the clouds almost completely out of the way, great for the views and the photos. We came across some yelling elephant seals, moaning Sea lions, Seals and a lone 250 year old Cypress tree. This tree is on every camera that passed here and if one wants to commercialize the photo you need to pay rights. Every thing is done to help the tree to become 300 years old so no rush if you want to come and get the best photo ever of a lone Cypress tree.
We turned on to Highway 101 and made it for Marks apartment. Mark sms-ed Marleen to get us a couple of mattresses for the last few nights. We went by their place to pick them up and had a nice cup of coffee at the same time. While I am playing with the tablet Mark is off to play some basketball with friends.
We plan to go to San Francisco tomorrow, I would like to see places I dreamed of seeing since childhood.
