Janet en Peter: leuk dat jullie "mee reizen" we spreken af voor de ondertiteling.

Gea: Yes well we do feel small at the canyon edge or driving up the mountain passes, but that is compensated when I get in the shower. The shower is fixed to the wall and just the shower head is adjustable. Adjusted to the highest point the water reaches somewhere between my stomach to my chest.

This morning we had a Skype conversation with Karin en Jeroen which was nice. Karin and Jeroen were sometimes having a conversation amongst themselves, almost forgetting about us. Almost feels like being home. We packed our bags, dropped them in the car and after we checked out of the hotel we left for Phoenix. But forgetting one thing, to take a picture of our hotel. The Days Inn on the historic route 66, how could we!

Taking the highway would get us to Phoenix by lunch time. Yesterday at the Grand Canyon we picked up a hiking couple who had hiked down and up to the Grand Canyon. They had decided to find a lift for the last couple of miles. They recommended us to not take the highway but to pass by Sedona.

So our route went over yet another mountain pass but now the surroundings felt more like eastern Transvaal South-Africa. Coming into Sedona it was a all America town and what a nice town this is. Almost nowhere a spot to park the car, it was that busy. We got us some bread and coffee at the C-market and went on our way.

We told the GPS to stay off the highway and what a nice route we had. We passed through pine covered mountains and prairie plains. All of a sudden we came across our first cactus, one of those tall ones with arms sticking out. It did not take long before we saw loads of them all around us. We stopped and took some Arizona desert pictures like the images in the cowboy movies.

We took a small detour through Scottsdale which is a expensive suburb of Phoenix with beautiful houses and villas. According to the GPS it is about 50km to the hotel and that is all city. Traffic was a little tough but we made it to the hotel and checked in. We will find ourselves some diner in a while and get ready for the trip to Palm Springs, CA tomorrow.
