Our day of flight

Thursday was our day in flight. Rob took us to Rotterdam central train station. We took the train to Shiphol. Our flight was delayed for one hour so we had to wait, but that was not a big deal. We were a little worried about missing our next flight but the lady at baggage control helped us nicely.
Passport control at Schiphol is automated so we had to figure out how that works but we made it through.
We were catered well by the United Airlines stewards and stewardesses. Enough food, snacks and drinks to go round. As they ran out of vegetarian meals the only choice was chicken or chicken so the crew made a show out of it.
Yesterday at Robs place I tried to fix up an arduino to get some inflight reedings on temperature, humidity and tele-metrics on movement. I could not find the time to start the project sooner so running out of time I could only get the temperature measurement running. Rob was a little worried about me having a printed sercuit board wired with sensors and connected to a 9 volt battery in my suitcase. Well these days that could spell having a few words with a customs officer, we'll find out.
We are still in mid air as I am writing this and The temperature outside is -63F and the sensor can go to a minimum of -67F. We'll find out what happened once we get to Mark.

The top part was written while we were on the first flight to Houston Texas. Now we are at Marks place and it is 7 am local time. Meanwhile we were late for our connection flight from Houston to San Francisco and the queue at customs was huge. On the aeroplane we had to complete a form about the nature of our stay and our adres. A stewardess advised us to just write San Fran, but that was a mistake. We were send back in line to write down the complete adres.
We missed the connection anyway but United had us booked on the next flight to SFO. Another minutes delay so we waited at the gate. It was 20 minutes before takeoff and still no boarding going on. So I went to the lady at the desk and she told me there has been a gate change and we must hurry because they are boarding. When we arrived at the gate nothing was going on, it appeared that the plain had a flat tire and damage to the brakes. Another 90 minutes delay. We managed to contact Mark and he started making arrangements to pick us up at SFO airport. It was a domestic flight so we were out of the airport before we knew it. We contacted Mark and in 20 minutes he and Evan, a colleague of his picked us up by car. No more trains, plains and no more delay's. They immediately took us for our first hamburger ;-)
