Yosemite + working towards returning to sunny Netherlands
As I'm writing this, I notice the temperature on our home built monitor system in the Netherlands indicates a whopping 26.25C.
We left early for the Tioga pass and entered Yosemite at the east entrance. Due to the low snowfall, Tioga pass opened on May 2nd this year, which is very unusual. We enjoyed the scenery and took a small hike at Mariposa grove at the south end of Yosemite national park.
We 'camped out' in a motel in Mariposa and went to eat at a diner. What a coincidence: as we sat down, we recognized it as the same place Mark and I had dinner on the first night of our trip two years ago. Funny thing, this now was our last night on the trip.
Next morning we made our way to Marks place in Palo Alto. The next couple of days we checked out some Californian beaches, being tourist in San Francisco, had some BBQ's at Mark's place and went for a brunch at Alice's, where we had started our roundtrip with a breakfast.
We had a vibrant time together, lots and lots of miles on the road, hiking, talking, enjoying, changing plans. As the three of us are leaving tomorrow morning, goodby is in the air. With all the plans going on, we don't know were well meet next year, but we'll see. Mark will attend a meeting this morning, Karin and Jeroen are going to a gym, and me, I'll just enjoy hanging around.
Tomorrow morning, that is Friday 23rd, our flight leaves at six, meaning we should be at SFO airport by four. My father used to say, the early bird catches the worm, but try not to be the worm.
Mark will take us to the airport and go to work afterwards.
We have a stopover at Washington DC, to arrive in Amsterdam Saturday morning at 7:15am. Rob is our pickup. We'll get our dog Romy from her holiday address at Karin's and head home.
No promises but I'll try to be in touch soon.
