Mark drove from Joshua tree to Flagstaff in just over six hours and only one stop. Along the way we took some photos of the variations desert landscapes. We arrived at our hotel at five, we went for a bite to eat at the Restaurant on Route 66. The railroad is just opposite the road, inside the restaurant a miniature train ran just under the ceiling.
After finishing our meal, we drove to the sunset crater. It's a volcano that last erupted in the 1930's. We were kind of late, we even missed the sunset and we didn't see the volcano, but we took some photos.
Back at the hotel it seemed difficult to find a vacant hotel room at Monument valey.
Mark came up with a previous turned down idea to go to Yellow Stone park. It took some figuring out which route to take, but we eventually finalized the plan in favor of Yellow Stone park. We'll need to make an extra mile or so, but we are sure it will be worth the effort. We will have seen quite a few states by the end of our trip. We started in California, we're in Arizona right now, and with the new plans, we'll be visiting Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
